Fresh fears of further traffic chaos in Westhoughton have emerged after plans to build houses on the former Merlin Garage at the top of Bolton Road have returned.
The developer won an appeal when the original plans were thrown out back in 2008 after more than 2,000 residents objected.
The time allowed to develop a site after permission was granted had expired. However, because the plans were won on appeal, any resubmission of the application must automatically be approved under the rules.
The developer has resubmitted the plans meaning the developing of three one-bedroom apartments, 15 two-bedroom apartments and two three-bedroom apartments can go ahead.
Some people will be concerned that the traffic problems along Bolton Road will get worse because the site is nearby to the traffic lights
There were also previous concerns that too many houses are being proposed for the size of the site.
