A new cafe is to open at the former Cherry’s coffee shop.
The shop on the corner of Wilbraham Street and Wigan Road has been the subject of much interest from local people interested in opening up new businesses in Westhoughton town centre.
Westhoughton councillor David Wilkinson said: “It is great to hear that the doors will be opening once again to a new business. Good luck to the people behind the new business.”
It comes as David Wilkinson has been inundated with numerous requests for help and advice from people interested in opening new businesses.
David recently launched the ‘Shop Local in Westhoughton‘ campaign, designed to promote existing independent businesses, whilst also campaigning for the £5,000 start-up grants to equal the £20,000 offering to new businesses in Bolton town centre.
He also says this significant interest in new shops shows it would be a disaster to build house on the former Gaiety snooker hall site, on Market Street, a plan which Labour councillors have supported.
- If you back David Wilkinson’s plan for Westhoughton town centre, please support him on Thursday 5 May in the Westhoughton South ward local elections.
