Axing Westhoughton’s Christmas lights just to save some money would be ‘stark-raving bonkers’, a councillor has warned.

The town’s Christmas lights have kept their £6,000 funding for this year, despite cuts to Christmas lights elsewhere.

Westhoughton councillor David Wilkinson said it was important that people still had something to look forward to, especially in hard times.

He warned: “Anyone that does not want Christmas lights in their town must be stark-raving bonkers.”
