Winifred Kettle car park expanded – and council comes to its senses at last

A new, bigger car park at the Winifred Kettle centre is being built at long last.

Bolton Council initially thought that the original car park was big enough despite the centre now becoming the home of Westhoughton’s health services and children’s centre facilities following the closure of Westhoughton Clinic and Westhoughton Children’s Centre.

Westhoughton town councillor David Wilkinson insisted that the car park had to be expanded because the local roads of Washacre and Leigh Road could not cope with extra parked cars.

“Finally it seems that the council has come to its senses,” said David. “I’m pleased they have listened to what we have been saying.”
