Support Westhoughton’s local economy

David WIlkinson is the only Westhoughton South candidate with a workable plan to improve our town centre

A growing town centre

David Wilkinson has launched a campaign to improve our town centre. He wants to:

  • Make it easier for new start-up businesses to open up by matching the £20,000 grants available in Bolton town centre for Westhoughton’s town centre
  • Make the application process for start-up grants easier
  • Keep the Gaeity snooker hall site for development of larger retail units rather than the houses that Labour support
  • Create a thriving town centre which supports Market Street’s existing businesses
  • Bring landlords and prospective businesses together to fill shops that have laid empty for a long time

The future of Market Street

While Labour councillors backed a housing development on the old Gaiety snooker hall site, on Market Street, David has argued that part of the site should be used to create new, larger retail units to attract bigger businesses to the town centre.
