Labour close vital Westhoughton respite centre

While Labour councillors in Bolton decided to close Winifred Kettle’s respite care facilities, the Labour town councillors in Westhoughton disgracefully backed them up.

It was left to David Wilkinson to passionately defend the facility. He said: “Westhoughton is growing and it is shameful that our healthcare facilities are actually shrinking.”

Now that Liberal Democrats’ John Ainscough and Derek Gradwell have also elected to the town council along with David, they will offer an even stronger voice when it comes to the growing problem of healthcare provision in Westhoughton.

  1. Absolutely disgusting, hasn’t the care system suffered enough without yet another lifeline for many being pulled from under them
