Market Street restaurant / takeaway plans delayed

54 Market Street

A decision on plans for a new restaurant and takeaway on Market Street has been delayed by Westhoughton town councillors.

Last month My Westhoughton revealed the plans to open a new business in the empty building that was formerly Mercers art gallery between the newsagents and Natwest bank.

But town councillors this week deferred making any decision until they know more about whether it will be more of a restaurant or a takeaway. They also wanted to know more about opening hours and how many people the restaurant at 54 Market Street would seat.

A decision will be made in the coming weeks when the plans return to the town council.

The plans show a kitchen and bar area at the rear of the building with seating spread across two floors.

The building has been empty for several months since the art gallery closed.
