New 20mph zones are to be rolled out across Westhoughton and a full list of streets included in the scheme has been released.
New zones are being introduced across Bolton affecting some 40,000 households.
Asked why Daisy Hill, Wingates, Four Gates and Dicconson Lane are not included in the current scheme, Bolton Council said it was becoming those areas “do not fall within the top 30% most deprived areas” and were not a priority.
A council spokesman added: “It remains council policy to implement 20mph speed limits on all appropriate residential roads and it is anticipated that the roll out will probably continue on completion of the current phase. The current phase is programmed for completion and implementation by the end of the financial year.”
20mph restrictions have already been introduced in areas including Washacre and Southfield Drive, the Summerfields estate and the Cherwell Road estate.
