New restaurant to open on Market Street

Plans for a new restaurant on Market Street have been announced.

The new restaurant and takeaway is being planned 54 Market Street which was formerly the former Mercers Art Gallery between the newsagents at Natwest bank.

The plans will be considered by Bolton Council in the coming weeks.

Westhoughton councillor David Wilkinson said: “We should welcome empty shops being filled along our main street, especially when independent traders set up new businesses.”

The plans show a kitchen and bar area at the rear of the building with seating spread across two floors.

The building has been empty for several months since the art gallery closed.

  1. David, what sort of Restaurant will it be?

  2. I would like to know what kind of restaurant to please??

  3. Why would we want another restaurant/takeaway..?? Aren’t there enough in westhoughton? The art gallery gave us some ‘class’ and it didn’t close my choice. The new landlord wanted the space for another venture. Obviously thought we needed another takeaway..!! Not..!!
