Plans for vets at Sainsbury’s refused by town councillors

Plans for a new ‘Vets 4 Pets’ pod in the Westhoughton Sainsbury’s car park have been refused by town councillors.

The supermarket had submitted plans for the new ‘concession pod’ to be built in the corner, adjacent to Cricketer’s Way.

Westhoughton town councillors voted against the plans at a meeting on Monday.

Bolton Council will now make the final decision.

Westhoughton councillor David Wilkinson, who has submitted his views to Bolton Council ahead of their decision, said: “I have said no to these plans because there is little information to support the application.

“The plans did not say how they would deal with animal waste and what the conditions for the animals would be like. I think its close proximity to a food store is concerning.”
