The 540 bus service from Westhoughton to Bolton will be reduced on Sundays, it has been revealed.
There will be two fewer buses to Bolton in the morning and two fewer in the afternoon coming back from Bolton.
The half hourly service is run commercially by Stagecoach.
Westhoughton councillor David Wilkinson, who is strongly opposed to the changes, said: “Once again we are seeing another reduction in provision. When developers keep claiming in their applications that there’s a bus stop nearby they never mention that there are fewer buses operating.”
The news comes just days after it emerged that the 516, 517 and 518 services are also being reduced.
The 517 will no longer go to Horwich, but will instead terminate at Middlebrook. The 518 will be scrapped in the week, but will run on Saturdays. The 516 will only run to Horwich once in the morning and the last four in the evening. To get to Horwich you will need to travel into Bolton first for most of the day.
