Two new businesses are set to open in Westhoughton’s town centre.
The former Blooming Flowers shop, on Market Street, and the Retro cafe, on Wood Street, are being fitted out in preparation for their reopening as new businesses.
It is not yet clear what the new businesses will be.
Westhoughton town councillor David Wilkinson said: “It is great to see these two premises being brought back into use. Our town centre is filling up quickly which shows people want to open businesses here to serve our growing population.
“That’s why it was irresponsible of Labour councillors to back a poor quality plan for houses on the former Gaeity snooker hall site when the prime town centre location could have provided a valuable site for either a large new store or a series of small units perfect for independent retailers.”
