Calls for Daisy Hill village speed review and HGV ban
Town councillors are calling for a review of the speed limit through Daisy Hill village, with a possible ban on HGVs that pass through.
Westhoughton town councillor Neil Maher said: “Daisy Hill residents have told councillors that they are concerned about the speed of traffic, especially in close proximity to St James’ primary school and the nursery at Hartford Road.
“They are also worried about the number of HGVs passing through the village.”
Liberal Democrat councillors representing Daisy Hill have long called for new measures to be put in place to protect children and families.
Plans for a pedestrian crossing at Hartford Road have never materialised from Bolton Council.
The issue of speeding and HGVs was raised at a recent meeting of town councillors.
The possibility of a ban on HGVs, except for those making deliveries to the area, was explored, along with a review of the speed limit.
The town council is writing to Bolton Council to see what action can be taken.
