    Neil has been a town councillor since 2019. He worked for the NHS for 20+ years. He served 22 years in the Armed Forces, including the Falklands where he commanded troops throughout the conflict in 1982. He spent 16 years in the private sector and has been a governor at Westhoughton High School for 18 years.

    Linda was elected to represent Central ward in the 2022 by-election. She has lived in Westhoughton for 27 years, is Bolton born and bred, and has been married to town councillor and veteran Neil Maher for 40 years. She works at Oakwood Distribution in Wingates and has brought up 5 children who have attended St Thomas’ and Westhoughton High School. Over the years Linda has organised, promoted and raised thousands of pounds for charities such as Cancer Research, Diabetes UK and Alzheimer’s Research.
